The official classification of Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, the Chapel of the Hospitallers, the crypt and the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception, including the chapel dedicated to Saint Joseph, as a heritage site was received on October 28, 2024.

In a letter addressed to Mr. Lacombe, Minister of Culture, Sister Nicole Gaudet, Superior General of the RHSJ, expressed her gratitude in these words:

« This is obviously a great honour for all the sisters of the Congregation. The Hospitallers see in it the fruits of the sustained and discreet efforts of their predecessors, who kept these places and their heritage alive, passing them on from generation to generation until the recent transfer to civil society… We believe that this recognition follows in the footsteps of Jeanne Mance, a woman of character and heart whose presence left its mark on Montreal, whose actions took root and whose spirit still resonates today. »

This classification will ensure the protection, conservation, and sustainability of this heritage asset. May Saint Joseph be its faithful guardian.
